The 4 Types of Siding You Can Choose From

Introduction

Vinyl Siding Installation Basically, there are 4 different types of siding  which you can choose for your home. The four are: wood, vinyl, aluminum and steel. And although they are different, they all have 3 things in common: They protect, insulate and make the house look more appealing. Which one to install is a question of taste and budget.

Siding is one of the first things that people see when looking for a new home, along with proper windows, framing and other aspects. Today, we are listing the 4 different types  you can use when building a new home or remodeling it:

    • Wood – As the material that offers the most of natural beauty from the siding options, wood siding also provides with the most options aesthetically, including board and batten siding, channel siding, hardboard lap siding, split log siding, tongue and groove siding and many others. Wood requires a big deal of maintenance and up-keep, which is a potential disadvantage on the other hand.

    • Vinyl – This type of is the least expensive and most common for the homes nowadays. Vinyl is easy to maintain, won’t rot like wood siding and ditches the risk of any infestation. Its paint does not peel or crack and is easy to clean. It does not require much maintenance. However, it can trap moisture inside your home and cause damage over time.

    • Aluminum – This option for your home will ensure durability, as well as fire and water resistance. It also doesn’t rot and is lightweight and well-insulating (better than vinyl and wood). However, a minor disadvantage is its easy denting properties, so don’t be surprised if you have to do some dent repairs over the long run.

  • Steel – The thickest and more durable alternative than aluminum is steel. Just like aluminum, it is water and fire resistance and ideal for people living in areas with constantly changing weather. Steel does not necessarily require maintenance and doesn’t need to be painted, which saves you some additional costs. However, it is by far one of the most expensive   options.
